Advanced OSINT
Class Description
Do you want to be an OSINT demi-god? There are OSINT agents that can find just about anything or anyone on the planet. We want you to become ONE (if you’re not already) and come back and work with us. This course is a stepping stone for those heading down the OSINT Professional path especially without military, intelligence, or police training. But even so, we like to think that when it comes to the civilian world, we can at least see the clouds and EVERYTHING on the planet.
Advanced OSINT includes three Classes:
OSINT Defense 110
TRAINING HOURS
8 hours of training
Before engaging in OSINT against potentially hostile targets, it’s important to have your defenses up. As one StriderPI instructors says, “let’s play 4 levels above our opponents and assume they are better than we think.” Technical OSINT Defense is the first important capability to develop. But “defense” also relates to acquisition of intelligence and evidence. There are specific techniques and strategies needed to defend your work from the scrutiny that will follow.
Sock Puppets and other means will be addressed. Ideally students show up with the course requirements and have the ability to do some secure OSINT activities during class. Bring your hot phone, gear, and necessities.
Equally important, is to have clarity on the differences of and relationship between INTEL and evidence in the PI world. Some PI’s believe it’s only about evidence collection. At StriderPI, we believe that legally-collected intelligence can be a game-changer whether it is useful as evidence or not. So we want it all!
Evidence collection via your computer or other device has some unique challenges and requires specialized software, protocols and timely actions. In one case, we had to download a FB group with over 150 people in hours, as the opponents in that case were likely to delete it, which they did about 12 hours later.
For this class, it will be helpful to have a prepared laptop, either your current OSINT ops one or a cleaned one loaded up just for class (best case). You’ll also want a burner phone or burner app (we recommend the former), and a Faraday bag. Bring your items secure.
OSINT vs. HUMINT, SIGNIT, IMINT and MASINT 111
TRAINING HOURS
8 hours of training
No, this class isn’t about a battle between types of information collection. But it is important to understand these other elements as we raise your skills and awareness as an OSINT operator.
A major difference between the civilian world (where PI’s operate) and international, state-sponsored activities, can be summed up as OSINT vs. SIGNIT, IMINT, and MASINT. There are limited opportunities for legal SIGNIT although they do exist. IMINT and MASINT can be summarized roughly as Google Earth and other maps/imagery applications which are generally open-source, but not the kind of classified tools that governments use.
The reason we include HUMINT on our list, is that many OSINT agents think that they can solve 100% of cases just with OSINT. We believe that is a misguided approach and that the best ratio for success is 80-95% OSINT and 5-20% HUMINT (which in our case, is PI field ops).
This class focuses on sophisticated OSINT techniques as well as some replacements or combination strategies relating to the other traditional sources of intelligence. We also look at examples of quality investigative reports with significant OSINT contributions.
Finally, we look at the
Becoming an expert at OSINT is a process that takes years and one course won’t make you a pro. But this course shows you the tools, the strategies and even the paradigms that are important to your rise as an OSINT agent. We hope you get great at this and then come back and work with us.
Planning OSINT Operations 112
TRAINING HOURS
6 hours of training
We address planning as the last class for the ADVANCED OSINT Course. It’s not just about sophisticated techniques, but quality planning as it’s used by any military or law enforcement unit on the planet. Goals, team, leadership, objectives, POA’s, noise and reveal discipline, “noise” mitigation and more will have a major impact on the operation or mission success.
What is the best technique, strategy or approach for each mission objective? It’s a question of layers that relate to effectiveness of the particular technique, the likelihood of a reveal, the opportunistic expansion vs. closed-ended ops, and more.
Students will develop an OSINT ops plan for a specific target such as an individual, organization, event, object, or location.

Dave and his team made this an amazing experience. I would recommend this course to anyone looking into becoming PI. There was so much information given in these 3 days. More than I ever imagined. The support continued even after the course was completed.
